Airers - Make Your Clothes Dry!

Electric airer

The Economy of Using an Electric Airer to Dry Your Clothes

Take care to locate an electric airer in a place where the surrounding temperature stays above forty five degrees Fahrenheit, the higher the better to cut the drying time for your clothes. After purchasing an airer, you have to check the spot where you plan to place it to make sure that you can run a bent hose from the exhaust hole of the airer to the outdoors safely. Depending on the model of the airer, you may be able to vent out to the back, to either side or through the floor. Before drying garments using airers you have to see that there are no papers or any combustible materials in the garment pockets.

For efficient drying of clothes, you have to place light and heavy fabrics separately. Avoid over loading and under loading an airer as both are likely to waste energy and the clothes take a longer time to get dried completely. While your clothes are being dried, never add more wet clothes to the airer as it would lead to an inefficient drying of the entire load and you may have to spend ages to complete the drying process. If you want to dry more than one load of clothes at a time, dry them one immediately after another to utilize the heat in the airer from the previous load.

You should not vent an electric airer into a chimney or attic as lint from the airer is very combustible. For venting purposes, either rigid or flexible metal ducting should be used. If the airer’s vent hose is too long, it will greatly increase the drying time of the clothes that you place in it. Protect small and delicate items of clothing by putting them in another piece (for example a pillowcase). Tie the pillowcase with a cord to ensure that the small pieces of clothing get dried evenly in the airer.

When you decided to go for a party or a social gathering, remove your party clothes from storage and air them in an airer so that they feel fresh when you wear them. Using airers is an economical way to dry your clothes as it requires very little time and effort. Dry your clothes with a definite timed cycle so that the clothes retain just the right amount of moisture on their surface for ironing them. Another advantage of this is that there would be a few wrinkles to iron out. This saves your energy costs. Frequent airing of clothes makes them last longer and they would not be susceptible to attacks by moths and other similar household pests.

If clothes are too wet when placed in an electric airer, it takes too long to air them and dry them completely. You have to hang all the clothes promptly after washing to prevent wrinkles from setting in on the clothes. These wrinkles are to be avoided at all costs as they make it difficult for you to iron clothes before you stack them away for future use.
